March 30th. That day means a lot to me right now. First, the month of March is almost over. When did that happen? Second, as of 2:30 today I’m on Spring Break! I love my students, but I needed some time to recoup. Third, it’s time to share my very first treats from my Foodie Penpal! My box was sent to me by the lovely Jane from The Healthy Beehive.
Jane sent me the most amazing stash of snacks. I had never tried any of the brands she sent me, so I was very excited to dig in. She sent a delicious peach dressing, peanut butter filled pretzels, coconut macaroons, an oatmeal cookie, some seaweed snacks, honey energy sticks, tea, and homemade cheese. Yes, homemade. She’s good like that.
Along with my box, Jane sent a very nice card! There is something to be said about receiving a handwritten card in the mail. Beats the heck out of email in my opinion. (Note to self: occasionally send people letters.)
So far my favorite snacks have been the Good Health Peanut Butter Filled Pretzels. I keep mentioning that I’ve been craving peanut butter. Well after eating this entire bag, I’m craving peanut butter AND pretzels. So glad she sent these!
The second runner up is definitely the Hail Merry Coconut Macaroons. And get this, I hate coconut. Let me rephrase that: I loathe the stuff. Either this pregnancy has changed my texture preferences or the coconut in these was very finely shredded. Either way, they are so good. The serving size of two didn’t fly with me, however. I kept digging in!
I still need to eat a few of the items, like the honey sticks (I’m kind of hoarding them. I really like honey.) and the tea. It’s been SO hot so I’ve been waiting for a day when I’m not already sweating to brew it up! :) I can’t wait to try it, though!
Overall, I am so happy that I took part in Foodie Penpals! I definitely lucked up with being paired up with Jane. She knows her stuff. Definitely take some time to check out her blog!

Some information about Foodie Penpals:
-On the 5th of every month, you will receive your penpal pairing via email. It will be your responsibility to contact your penpal and get their mailing address and any other information you might need like allergies or dietary restrictions.
-You will have until the 15th of the month to put your box of goodies in the mail. On the last day of the month, you will post about the goodies you received from your penpal!
-The boxes are to be filled with fun foodie things, local food items or even homemade treats! The spending limit is $15. The box must also include something written. This can be anything from a note explaining what’s in the box, to a fun recipe…use your imagination!
-You are responsible for figuring out the best way to ship your items depending on their size and how fragile they are. (Don’t forget about flat rate boxes!)
-Foodie Penpals is open to blog readers as well as bloggers. If you’re a reader and you get paired with a blogger, you are to write a short guest post for your penpal to post on their blog about what you received. If two readers are paired together, neither needs to worry about writing a post for that month.
-Foodie Penplas is open to US & Canadian residents. Please note, Canadian Residents will be paired with other Canadians only. We’ve determined things might get too slow and backed up if we’re trying to send foods through customs across the border from US to Canada and vice versa. So, I’m going to keep two separate lists and match US w/ US and Canada w/ Canada!
